Ride sharing provider Lyft has updated its app to integrate directly with cities and transit agencies and provide users with improved shared rides and simplified user experience
Lyft has taken a step forward by combining its product design with local-government-led city planning. The result is an improved app that can solve issues of finding late-night transport service, fill first-mile and last-mile gaps, provide access to transportation deserts, and deliver on-demand paratransit solutions.
The new Lyft app provides the best ride options based on where the user is going as well as providing price comparisons. There is a “one tap to ride” feature to request most frequent ride types and destinations. Likewise, more practical pickup and drop-off spots have been diverted to side streets where it is safer to stop. This helps to reduce congestion in heavily trafficked areas.
Lyft is now partnered with over 35 cities and counties in the US. ““Transportation today is being transformed by technology. Lyft is at the forefront of this transformation proving that if you make alternatives to driving yourself as convenient and reliable as possible, people will use it,” said former US secretary of transportation Mary Peters.
