Logistics service provider DB Schenker has announced its largest order of electric vehicles to date in France.
The deployment of 50 electric 16-tonne E-Tech D trucks and three 19-tonne E-Tech D models is currently underway across 19 metropolitan agencies.
Installation of the vehicles’ electric charging infrastructure will be completed by March 2024.
The e-trucks will arrive at DB Schenker branches starting September 2023 and undertake urban, suburban or regional journeys with an average distance of 150-200km (93-125 miles) per day. Each vehicle’s average reach is about 300km (186 miles).
Frédéric Vallet, CEO of DB Schenker France, said: “We have the ambition to be the world leader in green logistics.
“Electric powered trucks are an integral part of our vehicle portfolio. We ensure that their share is continually increasing. The implementation of the new Renault Trucks vehicles is another step toward achieving this ambitious target.”
By decarbonising its vehicle fleet, DB Schenker France aims is to reduce CO2e emissions in absolute terms by 50% for road activity in 2030, compared to 2021.
Innovations and achievements in fleet techology and last-mile logistics will be highlighted and celebrated at the second annual CiTTi Awards on 21 November 2023 at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London.
