UK-based delivery company CitySprint has announced its acquisition of Dorset-based Astral Couriers to expand its fleet in the south-west of England.
Astral Couriers has been providing courier services from its base in Dorset since its establishment in 1995.
The acquiring party, CitySprint, is owned by international parcel firm DPDGroup.
According to Astral Couriers, it has the necessary infrastructure to support CitySprint’s work as it already offers same-day courier services.
What’s more, CitySprint has a fleet of more than 3,500 vehicles and claims to be able to reach 88% of the mainland UK within 60 minutes.
Gary West, chief executive of CitySprint, said: “Looking ahead, it remains very much business as usual for Astral’s customers.
“There will be no changes to their current service or account contacts, but they can now enjoy access to our wider courier network and nationwide logistics service offering.”
