Swedish micromobility company Voi Technology has expanded its discount scheme for key workers, giving them free access during lockdown.
As previously reported by CiTTi, Voi launched a discount pass for key workers, low-income riders and students in Liverpool earlier this month. The operator will now extend the scheme to all the UK cities where it has trials including Birmingham, Northampton, Cambridge, Bath and Bristol.
Furthermore, the new Voi 4 Heroes scheme will exchange discounts for free access to eligible users during lockdown. NHS and emergency service workers will need to upload NHS identification, their Blue Light Card or Defence Discount Service to the Voi app or website.
According to Voi, the initiative, which is in place for the duration of lockdown, aims to make it easier for key workers to travel to work in a socially distanced manner.
Fredrik Hjelm, co-founder and CEO of Voi Technology, said: “The news of a second lockdown across England will be distressing for many. At Voi, we want to ensure that key workers can get around safely, without having to use public transport or be hit by cancelled services. This is why we’re offering free passes to NHS and emergency service workers during this lockdown period.”
The supplier now operators in six UK cities, with more trials expected to be announced soon.
