Micromobility provider Lime and Uber have announced that Lime’s e-scooters will be available for hire via the Uber app, as the businesses look to provide more active and sustainable travel options for riders in the UK.
The integration of Lime’s e-scooter services on the Uber app is available for riders based in London and Milton Keynes, where Lime is currently operating as part of the government-backed e-scooter trials.
Lime’s e-bikes are already available for hire via the Uber-app, meaning the launch of its e-scooter services will now provide riders on the platform with a second active and sustainable transport option.
Riders will need to provide valid proof of identification and complete a one-time virtual safety test on the Uber app in order to unlock and ride Lime’s e-scooters for the first time.
To access Lime e-scooters or e-bikes on the Uber app, users simply have to visit the ‘two wheels’ option on the home page and select the rental that is closest to them on the map. Prices start at just £1 to unlock and between 15p – 19p per minute to ride. Lime’s vehicles can also be accessed via the dedicated Lime app.
Alex Krasnoff, business development at Lim, said: “The past 12 months has shown a real appetite for shared e-scooter and e-bikes services in London, with Lime recently celebrating our one million and five million ride milestones in the region on e-scooters and e-bikes respectively. Usage is at an all-time high and this trend is only set to continue with Spring and Summer around the corner.
“Working closely with our partners at Uber we have been able to integrate and make our services available to even more riders, which will help encourage active and sustainable journeys and reduce congestion. We’re also very excited to launch our Gen 4 e-bikes in London in the coming months. Like our current red e-bikes, they will be available for hire via the Uber app and Londonders will be some of the first riders outside of the US that will get the chance to try out our new and improved Lime-green ride.”
