Lime, an electric scooter and bike company, has announced the launch of a pop-up ‘Lime and Learn Community Hub’ in London this week.
The company claims it is the world’s first ever micromobility community hub. It will open to the general public between Thursday 8 and Sunday 18 September 2022 at St James’ Park Station.
As part of its continued investment into London as its ridership reportedly grows, Lime will be offering a range of free events and activities at the hub, including special guests and prizes for members of the public to book onto.
Lime has highlighted its helmet hair salon with blue tit, which it first launched in June this year, with free 15 minute styling appointments, a helmet customisation workshop, first ride training for those new or less familiar with e-scooters and bike maintenance checks.
Georgia Corr, public policy manager at Lime, said: “Lime loves London and we’re proud to have been offering sustainable transport options here for the last four years.
“We can’t wait to meet some of our riders – old and new – in person this week, as well as introduce ourselves to Londoners that might not have ridden Lime before.
“The opening of our Lime and Learn Community Hub in London is a world first for Lime, and follows a summer of significant growth for the business here.
“At a time when we face an air quality crisis in the capital and a global climate emergency, the volume of people we’re seeing travelling by e-bike and e-scooter in London is hugely positive.
“We have a whole host of fun activities on offer that everyone can get involved in to celebrate.”
As part of the pop-up, Lime will also be hosting a private panel event on Wednesday 14 September called ‘Breaking down barriers: how to make London’s micromobility services more inclusive for everyone’, which will be moderated by broadcaster, author and disability advocate Samantha Renke, Lime’s Alan Clarke, Isabelle Clement MBE, who is director at Wheels for Wellbeing, and Simon Munk, campaigns manager at London Cycling Campaign. The discussion will focus on how operators, local councils and stakeholders can work together to make micromobility services more inclusive across London.
The hub will be open Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm and Saturday to Sunday from 10am to 4pm. Lime representatives will be on hand throughout the duration of the pop-up to answer any questions.
