Driver and rider training provider TTC Group will host micromobility operator Voi’s safety training events throughout the UK, with the e-scooter and e-bike skill events launching in April.
TTC is one of only a few organisations accredited to the ISO:39001 Road Traffic Safety Management Systems standard. Voi added, similar to its own operations, TTC works with the police, local authorities, transport operators and fleet managers to educate drivers and riders.
Jim Kirkwood, TTC Group, chief executive, said: “We are delighted to be collaborating with Voi to develop and deliver practical rider skills training. This initiative fits well with our vision to protect people on the move regardless of their mode of transport, and our expertise in the provision of road safety training for vulnerable road users.
“Our partnership allows us to explore an exciting new mode of transport and help to shape the future of micromobility rider training.”
During the safe riding skills events, which include both off and on-road practical sessions, Voi will continue to distribute free helmets to participants and give away discounts. While helmet use is currently not mandatory for e-scooter riders in the UK, Voi recommends and incentivises riders to wear one via regular communication with them during in-person, online events and in-app messaging.
Jack Samler, general manager at Voi UK and Ireland, added: “This partnership with TTC takes our rider safety skills training to a new level, with Voi gaining from TTC Group’s decades of experience delivering behavioural change for all road users, and providing TTC with the opportunity to enter a growing new transport sector.
“We look forward to growing our safety visions together, and continuing to offer best practice in responsible micromobility, that puts people first and creates safer and better cities for living.”
