Ford-owned e-scooter firm Spin has launched a new long-term subscription service for residents of Braintree, Essex, enabling riders to take home their rental e-scooter for a monthly fee.
From today (30 March), the Spin+ subscription service will allow residents to rent an e-scooter for £55 per month. The scheme includes insurance, helmet, charging cable, 24/7 customer support and maintenance.
Steve Pyer, UK country manager at Spin, said: “E-scooters are a simple and fun way to get around in Essex. Our key aim is to provide a socially distanced and safe way for people to travel as we are coming out of lockdown and one that also reduces the number of short car journeys made.”
The e-scooter operator has other service areas across Essex including Basildon, Chelmsford, Colchester and Clacton-on-Sea. In these areas users can rent e-scooters per minute through a shared scheme, rather than having exclusive access to a single e-scooter.
Both models were approved by the UK Department for Transport and Essex County Council, who are working with Spin, Braintree District Council and Essex Police to ensure the e-scooter trials are part of its Safer, Greener, Healthier transport campaign.
