Swedish micromobility company Voi Technology has launched three e-scooter discount passes for key workers, low-income riders and students in Liverpool, to support travel through the region during tightened coronavirus restrictions.
Voi said the e-scooters will give people in Liverpool – which is currently in tier three with a national lockdown expected on 05 November 2020 – an alternative way of travelling across the city centre.
It currently costs £1 to unlock a Voi e-scooter and 20p per minute thereafter. The discount passes will give a 75% discount to key workers, including emergency services staff, and those on low incomes, enabling them to travel for £2.50 per day or £10 per month with proof of eligibility.
Furthermore, students and higher education teaching staff are also eligible for a 20% discount pass.
Fredrik Hjelm, CEO of Voi Technology, said: “We’ve worked closely with our local partners in Liverpool to make sure that our e-scooters will continue to be available to hire so that the city’s residents have another way of getting around.”
There are currently 150 e-scooters available for hire in Liverpool following the launch of a 12-month trial in October. The fleet will be disinfected daily and feature copper tape on the handlebars to minimise the transmission of viruses, including Covid-19.
