The second and final round of the Scottish government’s Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) investment fund has been launched for public transport technology solutions.
The fund will support MaaS solutions, which typically seek to join up multiple different modes of transport, thereby allowing users to create unique journeys from A to B. The Scottish government has made ÂŁ1m available to make public transport easier while encouraging people away from single-occupancy car trips.
According to the Scottish government, the project will grow the evidence base for the global MaaS concept whilst helping to deliver solutions tailored for communities across Scotland. It hopes the fund, which was initially launched in 2018, will foster creativity in the sector.
Scotland’s cabinet secretary for transport, infrastructure and connectivity, Michael Matheson, said: “MaaS applications can directly support our vision for a more sustainable transport system as outlined in our national transport strategy, in addition to supporting the bold commitments we’ve made through our updated climate change plan.
“By creating new partnerships between the public and private sectors to focus on collaborative solutions to complex transport problems, I’m excited to see continued ambition through this final round of funding.”
Organisations can apply for funding via the Transport Scotland website.
