Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) provider SkedGo has announced a collaboration with the City of Darwin in Australia to launch the Darwin Journey Planner, the company’s fifth Australian MaaS project.
The collaboration involves Darwin Council incorporating the MaaS company’s journey planner into its official website. The service reportedly offers a wide range of transport options within the city and surrounding regions.
It was designed to combine all available public options, as well as non-traditional options like active travel modes, such as cycling.
The planner has the ability to create journeys based on user preferences, including both transport modes and other factors, including carbon emissions or calories per journey. The locations of water fountains are also integrated.
The announcement follows SkedGo’s ongoing projects with the Canberra Government, Department of Transport and Main Roads with The University of Queensland, Carsales and Optus (Singtel) Australia.
Tim Doze, business development manager of Asia-Pacific, SkedGo, said: “MaaS technology is a fundamental tool to reduce air pollution and city congestion.
“Our journey planner provides the City of Darwin with the data needed to integrate active travel and sustainable transport solutions.
“After the successful implementation of our projects in Queensland and Canberra, this signifies another big MaaS project in Australia helping to make transport more accessible for all.”
