Transit data and analytics company, Moovit has acquired 100 million users over the last five year. The app has also seen a 100 per cent increase in 12 months. “2017 was a significant year for Moovit,” said Moovit Co-founder and CEO, Nir Erez. “Doubling our users to 100 million in 12 months puts Moovit on a path to 1 billion users in the coming four years.”
The Moovit app is available for use in over 1,700 cities in 79 countries, whilst supporting 44 languages, and it was recently named as one of the “Best of 2017” apps, under the category “Sustainability” by Apple on its App Store.
Moovit is not just stopping there, the app also aims to provide more accessible journeys to support these with visual, motoric and ambulatory disabilities. For example, in June, Moovit introduced wheelchair friendly routes which are now available elsewhere in Europe and in 10 U.S cities.
“This year Moovit also developed and started licensing the Smart Transit Suite,” says Erez. “In addition, Moovit added multiple features in the app to help users with motoric, ambulatory and visual disabilities, and we launched the Moovit University Mapathon Program to empower students to improve their cities’ transit systems,” adds Erez.
