What Car? has named the new 2018 Nissan LEAF as the ‘Best Electric Car’ the 2018 What Car? Awards. Editor of What Car? Steve Huntingford said: “The electric car market has never been more competitive, yet the LEAF saw off all its rivals because it makes the most sense to most buyers. It combines excellent performance with generous standard equipment and low running costs. And even in winter weather, its real-world range is good.”
Europe Nissan has recently revealed that since the new Nissan LEAF was announced three months ago, it has already received over 12,000 order requests. Likewise, the growing popularity of electric vehicles in growing in the UK, which now accounts for almost one fifth of LEAF sales in Europe.
“The new Nissan LEAF is the most advanced and accessible 100% electric vehicle on the planet,” said Philippe Saillard, senior vice president, sales and marketing, Nissan Europe. “We’re delighted to receive such an accolade from the prestigious automotive brand, What Car?. This is a car that is more enjoyable, more connected and more exciting to drive than any other mainstream electric vehicle in history. It is simply amazing.”
Nissan’s xStorage, was also ‘Commended’ in the ‘Technology Award’ category at the What Car? Awards. The xStorage system uses recycled batteries from eclectic vehicles, which allows power to be stored when prices call and to sell excess power from the LEAF back to the energy grid.
