Apcoa Parking has partnered with Reef Technology, US operator of mobility, logistics hubs, and neighbourhood kitchens, to develop new urban mobility sites across 1,500 locations in UK and Ireland.
Apcoa and Reef will collaborate to turn existing parking locations into distribution and logistics centres for greener, more efficient last-mile deliveries.
The deal supports Apcoa’s network of 1,500 parking facilities across UK and Ireland to maximise value and utilisation for the clients. The company added it is a great opportunity for it to deliver further innovative and technology led solutions as part of its Urban Mobility Hub strategy.
Kim Challis, Apcoa’s regional managing director for UK and Ireland, said: “This collaboration with Reef makes the most of both organisations’ innovative and technology-focused strengths. It also provides a wide range of opportunities for the further expansion of Apcoa’s Urban Mobility Hubs to deliver sustainable solutions and benefits to our clients, customers who use the car parks and to the local communities.”
The type of new applications Reef will deploy includes its on-demand food and retail services, vertical farms, and micro-fulfilment-centres.
By working together, Apcoa and Reef aim to positively shape the future of UK towns and cities, turning them into more sustainable and inclusive centres of community and opportunity.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Apcoa to expand our customer reach and re-think the way urban space like car parks are used,” said Serdar Erden, EU COO for Reef Technology. “We look forward to partnering together long into the future to bring the best goods services and experiences to more neighbourhoods.”
