Vitronic, a provider of traffic technology for enforcement and tolling solutions, has been awarded a seven-year contract to develop, configure and service mobile speed enforcement systems for Rigspolitiet, the upper most level of the Police of Denmark.
Vitronic’s lidar-based Automatic Traffic Control technology will support Rigspolitiet in expanding its speed enforcement activities and in achieving ‘vision zero’ road safety across Denmark.
The first 25 cars will be delivered in 2022 as the Danish police begin to replace all existing vehicles and measurement equipment with new-generation hardware and software.
All 107 cars will be equipped with Vitronic’s FM1 POLISCAN measurement system, which will be used from within the cars and applied via tripods.
The technology is designed to enable the police to detect violations quicker and process them faster.
Henning Sander-Jensen, head of European sales at Vitronic, said: “A technology refresh is crucial to optimise speed enforcement. We are the supplier of the old system and will upgrade to the current POLISCAN FM1 measurement system.”
Vitronic will act as the main contractor responsible for all deliveries of the new Ford Custom cars and corresponding systems. Throughout the contract, it will partner with local subcontractors Haarby Karosseri, Auto-huset Vestergraad, Swarco and Ford Motor Company DK.
