The UK Department for Transport (DfT) has issued a public call for ideas to support the development of an Integrated National Transport Strategy (INTS) for England.
The strategy will define the direction for the design, construction and operation of the country’s transport network over the next decade.
The consultation, which began on 28 November 2024, is open until 11:59pm on 20 February 2025.
Aiming to create a unified national vision, the strategy will reportedly prioritise user needs and empower local leaders to deliver bespoke, integrated transport solutions for their communities.
The DfT is seeking input from a wide range of stakeholders, including members of the public, frontline transport workers, and organisations across all transport sectors.
Respondents are encouraged to share their experiences with the transport network and suggest improvements in areas such as accessibility, connectivity, and technology integration.
Specific focus areas include data utilisation for journey planning, innovative transport technologies, and strategies for better integration between different modes of travel.
The DfT has highlighted the importance of inclusivity, inviting feedback from diverse demographic groups to ensure the strategy addresses the needs of all users and complies with the Public Sector Equality Duty under the Equality Act 2010.
Submissions will be reviewed to inform the final draft of the INTS, which aims to enhance transport accessibility, sustainability, and efficiency across England.
Those interested can participate via an online questionnaire available on the UK government’s website.
