UK MPs are set to debate on improving public transport Thursday 5 December.
Liberal Democrat MP for Glastonbury and Somerton Sarah Dyke put forward the motion for this week’s [2 December] Backbench Business Committee meeting.
The Committee then has to decide how to allocate the limited Parliamentary time it has at its disposal.
The news comes after former transport secretary Louise Haigh stepped down 29 November amid the public unearthing of a fraud conviction.
The conviction was initially handed down after Haigh misreported a work phone as stolen when she was mugged.
After realising she had misplaced the item, Haigh turned it on alerting the police and leading to her conviction.
The new transport transport secretary was appointed the same day, Heidi Alexander taking the mantle from her previous position within the Ministry of Justice.
