French payment and ticketing company Flowbird has released a new multimodal ticketing solution, which it claims offers a ‘one app, one account’ environment for integrated transport options, active travel and ID-based subscriptions and passes.
The app is named Monapass and has been developed by Flowbird for the Principality of Monaco. It was designed to offer users a single mobility solution ‘in their pockets’ by providing ticket storage, combined ticketing, journey planning, parking options and more in a single space.
The company adds that its ‘open ticket portfolio’ enables it to import and manage third-party passes and subscriptions for other transit services, such as e-bike hire, and that it represents a one-stop Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) solution.
“Monapass is the complete mobility companion in your pocket,” said Paul Rogers, sales and marketing director at Flowbird.
“We are expanding the traditional scope of MaaS apps to connect an ever-wider range of services and subscriptions and make them available through a secure, single sign-on account in a mobile environment.
“There is no need to manage multiple ID-based accounts through separate apps and we have advanced our vision for MaaS gateway to include access to multiple services through a single account, with payments through the Flowbird payments service.”
The Principality of Monaco has made a commitment to transforming its mobility and transport services through its digital-focused ‘Extended Monaco’ programme.
What’s more, Monaco sees MaaS as being key to reaching its environmental targets around reducing light vehicle traffic by 20% by 2030. Flowbird’s new mobile app is seen as a way to unlock further transport options for people and promote green travel in the region.
