Optibus, which provides an end-to-end software platform for public transportation applications, has announced the launch of Optibus Calendar to help organisations increase visibility and insight into their operations.
The software provider claims its new solution has a user-friendly interface that offers an easy-to-understand but comprehensive view of operational plans, special service days, KPIs like costs, deadheads, distance and more.
What’s more, service plans and operational details can reportedly be analysed at a range of levels using the calendar, which can offer a high-level monthly or a quarterly overview, or a more detailed picture of daily operations.
By enabling users to view these streams of information simultaneously, Optibus suggests it can save its users time and effort, help them forecast the near-future of operations, as well as take immediate action to improve services.
According to the company, any high-level or granular data held in the calendar can be easily extracted and analysed using Optibus’ Calendar API, which can also support the production of reports and operational assessments.
“The calendar will allow us to improve the way we share schedule information in Optibus within the business and across departments,” said Alastair Willis, head of commercial at Abellio London.
“It gives other users access to the correct schedules and data, avoiding the need for the schedules team to always have to provide this data.”
The calendar was, Optibus claims, developed with operators and agencies in mind to assist with the work of design partners and beta users worldwide, including Abellio (UK), Transportes Sul do Tejo (Portugal), Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authority – LANTA (USA) and West Coast Motors (Scotland).
Optibus has made the calendar available at no additional cost to users of Optibus’ scheduling product, which was designed to use optimisation algorithms and machine learning to make vehicle and crew scheduling faster and more efficient.
