A new veterans rail card has been launched offering discounts on train fares across Scotland.
The new rail card will give veterans 34% off travel and features an introductory discount on the initial purchase of the card, until 31 March 2021.
Funded by the Scottish government, veterans living in Scotland will be eligible for a £6 rail voucher, reducing the cost of the card from £21 to £15. One-year and three-year options are available, providing fare reductions on standard and first class anytime, off-peak, super off-peak and advance fares.
The card will also allow a named companion to receive the discount when travelling with the card holder, as well as providing reduced fares for up to four children.
Scottish veterans minister, Graeme Dey, said: “We are committed to providing the best possible support for our veterans and their families, ensuring they can benefit from the same discounted travel as serving members of our armed forces.
“This commitment is part of our ongoing ambition to make Scotland the destination of choice for service leavers and their families, offering high living standards, great job prospects and a society that recognises and values their contribution.”
