SRL Traffic Systems, a supplier and manufacturer of portable and temporary ITS equipment, is extending its portfolio of products designed to promote work zone safety with the launch of an exclusive partnership with barrier, gate and bollard manufacturer, Solar Gates UK.
The partnership means Solar Gates UK’s Instaboom solar/hybrid instant work zone protection barriers, which are designed to be a safer and more cost-efficient alternative to conventional plastic barriers staffed by dedicated gatepeople, can now be hired from SRL.
Used on smart motorways and HS2 projects, Instaboom can be remotely operated and monitored by personnel with multiple responsibilities from elsewhere on site, away from oncoming traffic.
SRL now also offers Instaboom Lite, which was launched this summer for use on short duration operations, including those on rugged terrain. Both products are compatible with wireless GS6 height detection kits, and so can protect against overheight incursions.

Instaboom barriers are reportedly the only mobile, solar barriers on the market that meet the stringent BS/EN 13241-1 safety standard for gates, barriers and doors, as well as being UKCA marked.

The announcement follows SRL’s hire partnership with traffic product development consultancy Innovative Road Safety Solutions, which facilitates the launch of a new temporary traffic light installation solution designed to enable traffic management companies and local authorities to quickly, cost-effectively and safely decommission and reactivate permanent traffic lights.
