Traffic Technology has announced the launch of the latest generation of its speed indication displays (SIDs).
Using radar sensor technology, Traffic Technology’s SIDs are said to be capable of accurate measurement of speed from 2mph (3km/h), meaning it can also be used in pedestrian zones, as well as for road safety in school zones, community engagement, SpeedWatch activities and more.
SIDs are designed to provide non-confrontational warnings to drivers, letting them know their speed via an LED display and putting social pressure on them to decrease speed when required.
Physical enhancements include a lightweight case, reportedly reducing installation time to five minutes by a single operator.
According to Traffic Technology, users can now choose from three 5th generation SIDS, all with high-performance display systems, ‘smiley’ face for positive driver feedback, installation bracket and power-pack, coupled with features that can be individually customised.
For example, the Gen5 SID Lite 6kg radar road safety education display features LED text message, Bluetooth communications and hand activation for speed threshold change, without data capture.
Meanwhile, the Gen5 SID Smart 6kg radar road safety education display provides data capture and reporting, and features MyTrafficData online analysis suite, Bluetooth communications, TXT/DMP data formatter, internal data memory, exit speed capture and cloud transfer capabilities.
