A-to-be USA, a mobility and tolling solutions provider, has announced that it has been awarded a contract by Richmond Metropolitan Transportation Authority (RMTA) in Virginia to provide a new tolling system.
RMTA operates the toll expressway system across the Richmond metropolitan area.
The contract involves A-to-be’s provision of a new toll system for open road tolling (ORT) lanes, also known as cashless or all-electric lanes, across three toll zones in the area, one of which sees an estimated 39,000 vehicles every day.
A-to-be intends to provide LinkBeyond, a full toll collection system comprised of LinkBeyond ORT, an open road tolling solution, including the toll zone controller (TZC) subsystem and a cloud-based toll facility host (TFH).
The solution also includes features for reporting, a digital video audit system and the company’s online maintenance management system.
“We are excited to partner with A-to-be to provide our customers with a new, industry-leading toll collection system,” said Joi Dean, CEO of RMTA.
“The new LinkBeyond system will help ensure our drivers continue to have the safe, efficient and convenient experience they have come to expect from RMTA, for years to come.”
The system is planned for operation in 2023, with A-to-be claiming it will provide maintenance support for up to 10 years following successful deployment.
