The Kansas Turnpike Authority (KTA) has chosen TransCore as the vendor for a new roadside toll collection programme for its conversion to cashless tolling in 2024.
“This is a very significant milestone,” said Bruce Meisch, KTA director of information technology and cashless tolling project manager.
“KTA has a long, established history with tolling, but that also means our system is ageing. A new roadside toll collection programme is the next step to move forward with our conversion.”
TransCore will provide equipment and services that will allow KTA to collect tolls via compatible electronic transponders or vehicle license plates.
Work began last week between KTA and TransCore with Nick Parrott, KTA assistant director of technology, and Jon Cloutier, vice president of Transcore, leading the roadside toll collection’s implementation.
