Poland’s e-TOLL system became operational on 24 June 2021 and collects tolls for vehicles that weigh more than 3.5 tonnes on some 3,660km (2,275 miles) of Polish highways, motorways and national roads.
The solution is based on GNSS technology for user position location with the use of virtual gates. It is maintained and monitored by Poland’s National Revenue Administration.
The service points for the electronic toll collection system are mainly service stations located along the toll road network at a maximum distance of 15km (9.3 miles) from the entrance to the toll road or at key points of the Polish road network.
The toll collection functionality for vehicles driven on toll sections of roads in Poland is managed by the General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways.
Tolls for light vehicles on state-owned motorways in Poland were abolished on 01 July 2023.
The exemption from charges applies to users of cars, motorbikes and combinations of vehicles with a maximum permissible weight of 3.5 tonnes.
