M6toll is launching a new addition to its ‘Saver’ range of passes this summer, giving discounts off short local journeys.
Aimed at car drivers living in and around the postcode districts nearest the M6toll of Lichfield, Tamworth, Sutton Coldfield, Walsall and Cannock, the Local Saver pass provides six short- or mid-distance trips for £29.
There is also a version for van drivers at £49, aimed at local businesses and sole traders.
The new Savers product is designed to open up the M6toll’s new ANPR technology and cashless payments to more drivers in the region.

Drivers can join and exit the toll road at any time of the day or week, with all trip payments linked to their vehicle registered online, with savings automatically applied from the first trip.
The launch of the Local Saver pass is part of M6toll’s new pricing structure ,which comes into effect on Monday 22 August. As part of the changes, there will be a 50p increase for cars, 80p for vans and 90p for trucks.
According to M6toll, the Local Saver aims to benefit those living nearest the road who can use it the most.
Drivers from further afield have the option of a ‘Return Pass’, which gives 20% savings off same day returns, and a ‘Standard’ account, which saves 5% of all trips.

Michael Whelan, general manager at M6toll, said: “It’s great to be able to extend our ANPR system to more customers this summer.
“It’s another demonstration of our investment in making it easier to use the M6toll, so drivers can get from A to B more quickly, smoothly and safely.
“Innovations like these help drivers to switch their trips on to the M6toll, and in turn that opens up capacity and improves congestion on the adjacent road network.
“The free-flowing reliability of the M6toll shaves precious time off short trips as well as long distance journeys, but it’s online accounts that give drivers the ease and convenience of knowing they can use the M6toll whenever they want.”
The Local Saver initiative forms part of M6toll’s ‘RoadAhead’ digital transformation programme, which aims to deliver a next-generation tolling service to the 18 million drivers and businesses that use the motorway every year.
