ASFiNAG, the Austrian government-owned organisation that plans, finances, builds, maintains and collects tolls for Austria’s autobahns, has awarded a contract to SkyToll for the supply of mobile enforcement cameras.
SkyToll, based in Slovakia, will initially supply ASFiNAG with 25 devices and related system integration services to enforce the payment of sticker-based and electronic vignettes in Austria.
The contract includes an option for ASFiNAG to order up to 35 additional devices.
The cameras supplied by SkyToll use AI-powered software that makes it possible to identify in normal traffic whether a vehicle has a correctly paid vignette.

The solution also enables real-time recognition of vehicle license plate numbers, the country of registration and identifies whether the vehicle has a vignette and its validity.
“This new cooperation with ASFiNAG is exceptional for us – it is the first contract in the DACH region, which may open the door to other upcoming projects in Germany, Austria and Switzerland,” said Matej Okáli, chairman of the board of directors of ITIS Holding, the parent company of SkyToll.
Full integration of the technology and delivery of all components is scheduled for completion by July 2024.
