The deadline for tender for a new GNSS-based tolling system in Slovakia has been extended, until 14 June.
With the current operations contract due to expire at the end of 2022, Slovak’s national motorway company NDS has said it is time for a technical upgrade.
There are three separate tenders for the new tolling system including the tolling back office, or “central system”, the toll services and the toll enforcement system.
NDS said it is its intention to purchase and operate the new tolling system, rather than contracting an operator like Skytoll to own and operate all system components on its behalf.
The tender for this new back office solution must include an electronic toll collection system based on open road tolling, multi-lane free flow, without the need for using a specific lane, reducing speed or stopping a vehicle in order to retrieve electronic data using an electronic device installed in the vehicle (OBU), that has been in continuous operation for at least 24 months.
The successful bid will be required to implement the system and provide technical support operations from 01 January 2023 to 31 December 2027. There will be with an option to prolong operations for an additional five years until December 2032.
