SEAT’s carsharing service Respiro is being rolled out in the Catalonian municipality of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat from 14 November, making it the second Spanish city to operate the platform after Madrid, which now has 15,000 users.
L’Hospitalet mayor Núria Marín and SEAT’s head of urban mobility Lucas Casasnovas confirmed the agreement at the City Council.
With the goal of reducing emissions and improving the city’s air quality, the 16 vehicles in the fleet will run on compressed natural gas and may be joined by the new Mii electric within the next few months.
Respiro vehicle service reserved parking will be street marked according to city bylaws as well as specific informative vertical signing.
Casasnovas said: “This launch in L’Hospitalet, one of the frontrunner cities on mobility issues, is a further step in our commitment to improving mobility in cities. We want to make eco-friendly solutions available to the public by hours or days, depending on their travel needs both inside and outside the city.”
SEAT purchased Respiro, which itself launched nine years ago, and entered the car-sharing sector in 2018. SEAT has also launched a corporate car-sharing service to meet the needs of businesses and provide them with cars on demand in city centres, at dealerships and places of work.
L’Hospitalet de Llobregat mayor and president of the Spanish network of Smart Cities, Núria Marín, added: “the implementation of Respiro in L’Hospitalet will enable us to counter the effects of climate change and air pollution, as promoting car-sharing is precisely one of the measures included in L’Hospitalet’s sustainable urban mobility plan.
“We continue to work towards achieving the sustainable development goals adopted by UNO by 2030.”
