European bus and trolleybus manufacturer Solaris Bus & Coach has been awarded a £3.2m contract to deliver six electric buses and three free-standing dual plug-in-charging stations to the Polish city of Konin.
Municipal operator Miejski Zakład Komunikacyjny (MZK) will take delivery of all six Solaris Urbino 12 buses by the end of May 2020.
The zero-emission vehicles are powered by two integrated electric motors producing 110kW each and a 200kWh Solaris High Energy battery system.
All three charging stations come with a dual power supply of 60kW and 120kW. Depending on the chosen supply, the vehicle’s battery can be recharged in 3-6 hours.
The 26-seater buses have also been designed for future installation of a pantograph on the vehicle roof to enable fast charging of the batteries at the bus depot and at other sites across the city.
Each bus comes with a 36-month warranty and each charger comes with a 72-month warranty.
