Road transport solutions provider Traffic Technology Ltd has announced a new solution for counting cyclists and pedestrians, named the Eco-Counter PyroEvo.
This version of the eco-counter is reportedly smaller and lighter than the previous model, and works by using a non-intrusive, high-precision lens to detect human body heat, according to Traffic Technology.
The solution is also designed to be weather-resistant, including extreme heat and cold, waterproof and to blend in with its surrounding environment. The sensor it uses is self-calibrating, the company claims, and can reportedly be installed within minutes.
What’s more, the sensitivity of the device can detect both high-speed cyclists and two people passing by with a distance as small as 20cm between them, its developer says.
Upgrade and maintenance can also be performed remotely, with the device offering a reported battery life of up to two years.
Richard Toomey, managing director of Traffic Technology Ltd, said: “The PyroEvo is the ideal solution to capture and analyse people counting trends on sidewalks, shared paths, pedestrianised streets, urban trails and more.”
The device’s accompanying counter also includes what Traffic Technology describes as user-friendly software to support data analysis and the understanding of trends.
