European road transport prices increased by 17 per cent between the first and second quarters of 2018, according to the Transport Market Monitor from Transporeon and Capgemini.
The price index increased in Q2 2018 to 107.9, 7.2 per cent up on Q1 and 6.6 per cent up on Q2 last year.
The price increase reflects a 36 per cent fall in capacity to an index of 70.1 – however this is still 6.6 per cent up on a year ago.
In Q2 2018 trade volumes in Europe are expected to decrease by 11.6 per cent to €2060 billion compared to Q1.
