The majority of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft professionals believe the first commercial urban air mobility passenger routes will be operational by 2025, according to new research.
A study commissioned by aerospace engineering company Horizon Aircraft, found 56% of those working in the eVTOL sector believe we could see air taxis within the next four years. A further 15% think this will happen between 2026 and 2029, with 25% of respondents stating it will happen after 2030.
According to the findings, Canada, China and America will have the largest and most advanced eVTOL markets by 2030.
Furthermore, the Aerospace Industries Association estimates that the US mobility market will create 280,000 jobs by 2035. Whereas, 48% of eVTOL professionals interviewed as part of Horizon Aircraft’s research believe the sector will create between 350,000 and 500,000 roles across the world by then.
Brandon Robinson, CEO of Horizon Aircraft, said: “Our research shows huge optimism amongst those working in the eVTOL sector. Many believe it is only a few years before the first commercial urban air mobility flights will take place, and this will generate a huge number of jobs and create significant revenue globally.”
