Moovit, a Mobility as a Service (MaaS) solutions provider and urban mobility app developer, has announced a new feature, which it claims can enable people to track vehicles in real time.
This new tracking feature was designed to work for for buses, trains, trams, subways, ferries and cable cars that have GPS tracking installed, Moovit has said.
What’s more, the mobility firm plans to roll out the feature in more than 220 cities across 38 countries.
Another added function allows users to check when the app’s vehicle information has last been updated, meaning when the app last received a signal from the vehicle. Users can also get service notifications for their chosen line, Moovit has said.
The function works when users choose the ‘Live Location’ button, which will launch a live map to allow the user to follow a vehicle’s journey.
“A key part of planning your trip and traveling with peace of mind is knowing when the bus will reach the station you’re waiting at,” said Yovav Meydad, chief growth and marketing officer at Moovit.
“This new Live Location feature ensures that transit riders have access to an additional layer of reliable information on route progress.”
Other features of the Moovit app include live directions, deboarding notifications and a way finder feature that uses AR to help passengers spot harder-to-find locations.
