Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) has called on residents in the region to give their views on a draft core strategy for its local transport plan (LTP) – Reimagining Transport in the West Midlands.
The LTP sets out policies to promote safe, integrated, efficient and economic transport to, from and within the West Midlands as well as plans to implement those policies.
Among these policies is the need to deliver action across ‘6 Big Moves’ to improve accessibility, reduce traffic, and electrify transport for the area covered by the West Midlands’ seven metropolitan districts/boroughs.
TfWM has thus released a short animation (see above) that explains the LTP and why how it plans and manages its transport system is important to the region.
“We need to create a region that is accessible to all, with a growing economy after the impacts of the pandemic, and we desperately need to reduce carbon emissions to make our region a healthier, happier and more prosperous place to live,” said Anne Shaw, executive director, TfWM.
“To help us plan for and deliver a local transport system that will help us make a more prosperous and better-connected West Midlands that is fairer, greener and healthier, we are inviting people to complete our survey to tell us what they think about what we are setting out to do.”
TfWM is currently seeking views on the draft core strategy. A consultation will run from 07 February 2022 until 04 April 2022.
